The London 2012 Olympic Games

Aug 16

the olympic logo2012 has been a very busy year for Great Britain, we celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and quite recently held the London 2012 Olympic Games. I know the Olympics have sadly some to an end, but I think a massive event like the Olympics deserves a mention! It all kicked off with the Olympic Opening Ceremony which was truly incredible to watch. The ceremony was shortly followed by many events such as rowing, diving, athletics, cycling, tennis and my favourite event, Gymnastics.

Team GB did an amazing job this year, ending up 3rd on the medal table, winning an incredible total of 65 medals, 29 of which were Gold!! They definitely did us proud.

Luke Campbell is just one of our gold medallists, who won gold in boxing. Luke is from Hull, which is where my grandad, cousins, auntie and uncle live, and is also where my dad was born. Not only that, but my dad was born on Hessle Road which is where Luke is from! Also, Samantha Murray who won a modern pentathlon silver medal for Great Britain in the final event of the London 2012 Olympic Games, is from Clitheroe, which is literally 5 minutes away from where I live and I also go to school there aswell! So of course, we were very happy when they won us a gold and silver medal! Overall, the Olympic Games was amazing and I am proud of all of our athletes.

Diamond Jubilee 2012

Jun 04

DiamondJubileeThe  Diamond Jubilee is taking place this weekend, and is a very exciting celebration! I don’t know what you’ve got planned for the event, but lots of people are having street parties and barbecues and putting flags everywhere. My street has been decorated with lines of flags and looks really colourful.

I love watching the Jubilee celebration on television because there isn’t going to be another Jubilee for a while yet so you’ve got to make the most of it. The Armada was the most amazing thing to see. One thousand boats sailed across the Thames in honour of her majesty, and you got to see this incredible sight from a sky view on tv, and it was definitely one of the best things I’ve ever seen.

60 years of ruling is definitely something to celebrate for the queen, and I admire her for the visits she recently paid to various towns, villages and cities. I’m now watching the Diamond Jubilee Concert on BBC 1 and loads of exciting acts are performing. I don’t want this celebration to end because it’s something for everyone to be excited about and join in to!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Apr 11

Big OneIt’s almost summer now, and it’s the perfect time to go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. For an action-packed day out, and many thrilling and exciting rides to choose from it’s definitely the place to go! It features the tallest roller coaster in the United Kingdom: ‘The Big One’ and a spiralling, speedy ride called: ‘Infusion’.

With many on-site restaurants such as ‘Burger King’ and a few ‘snack shacks’ offering Chinese cuisine, Fish & Chips, and freshly made douhgnuts, you won’t go hungry.

They are now offering ‘Platinum passes’, which allow you to have all-round access all year to the Pleasure Beach free of charge. Of course these aren’t cheap, because a wristband allowing you one day in the Pleasure Beach is £27, so these passes are priced at £150-£250, which is pretty good considering you get unlimited visits to the theme park.

I had an absolutely fantastic time, and I’m sure you will. I definitely recommend this for a day out during the summer holidays!

All of the clothes and accessories are more for your winter wardrobe, like wooly scarves, warm coats and fluffy socks, but there are still a few items that you could wear in the spring or even save for the summer! Everything is so nice, you wouldn’t expect them to be in a sale! But this sale is going to last forever, so hurry to River Island!

The Bank Job

Jan 07

The Bank JobThe Bank Job is a fantastic new gameshow series on Channel 4, presented by the hilarious and outgoing, George Lamb. The aim of the game, is to accumalate big sums of money by choosing numbers from the vault wall, this money then goes into your case. When you think that you have enough money, you leave the vault and are then in the danger seat, this means that if any of your competetors mangage to bank more money than you, then you leave…and the rest, well that would be telling.

Halloween 2011

Oct 27

pumpkinMonday 31st…Halloween. The one day of the year where it is perfectly normal to dress up in a scary costume, knock on someone’s door and say those famous words ‘trick or treat’. There are a lot of activities to do on Halloween, such as apple bobbing, ghost stories, parties, pumpkin carving, but the most common of them all, is definitely trick-or-treating.

I’ve been looking forward to Halloween for a while, and have put a lot of thought into what I am dressing up as this year. But after shopping around and seeing a black crown with a veil attached to it, I finally decided what to be… Frankenstein’s bride! I am so excited! What are you dressing up as?

Roefield Leisure Centre- Kids Gym

Oct 27

Roefield Leisure Centre is a great way for kids my age to exercise. This gym is based in Clitheroe and allows 11-15 year olds to get the exercise they need on a weekly basis. Roefield Leisure Centre’s kids gym is full of hi-tech machines imported from America. This includes: Treadmills, Rowing Machines, Cross trainers and a full selection of weights and much more. Basically everything you need to tone up and build  muscle. Roefield is a great way to make friends because there is always people in there with you. I’d definitely recommend this gym to anyone wanting to get active and have fun!
